On June 22, 2024, the Smithsonian marks the first Saturday of summer—Solstice Saturday—by staying open late and hosting programs and performances throughout the day and night.
All of the museums on the National Mall will have extended hours.
- Open until 8 p.m.: National Museum of the American Indian
- Open until 10 p.m.: National Museum of African American History and Culture, National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History
- Open until 11 p.m.: Arts and Industries Building, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, National Air and Space Museum
- Open until midnight: National Museum of Asian Art, National Museum of African Art
Solstice Saturday is held in association with Hofstra University’s Department of Physics and Astronomy. Hofstra University’s Astronomy Festival on the National Mall takes place Saturday, June 22, 6–11 p.m., inside the Arts and Industries Building.
