- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a loosely rendered view of sunlight penetrating a dense grove of trees on a slope, likely on or near the artist's property in Hudson, New York. Two nearby trees are visible in the foreground as the terrain descends towards the middle distance at center, where several other trees are present. In the middle distance at right, a slope descends toward the center of the work. Above, the trees' overlapping canopies form a mass of greenery. Throughout the scene, dappled sunlight falls on the leaf-covered ground, creating bright patches.
