- Description
- “Votes for Women” was one of the most popular and recognizable slogans used by members of the woman’s suffrage movement.
- The yellow and black color combination was first used in 1867 when suffragists used the Kansas state flower, the sunflower, as part of a campaign for a state suffrage referendum. The referendum failed but the colors became associated with the movement nationwide.
