- We're Still Here: Preserving the Cherokee Heritage Site Kituwah
- Description
- In 1996 the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians purchased Kituwah, the site of an ancient earthwork and—in Cherokee oral history—the Cherokee people's mother town. In this video, citizens and leaders of the Eastern Band describe the special meanings Kituwah has for them and the importance of helping to preserve it. The video was produced in 2004 by the National Museum of the American Indian and the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation for "We're Still Here," a tribally curated section of the museum's opening exhibition "Our Peoples: Giving Voice to Our Histories."
