- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a view of twilight in the Hudson River Valley, looking northwest from a point on or near the artist's property in Hudson, New York. In the foreground, a treetop encroaches into the scene at lower right. The middle distance is a loosely rendered expanse of dark, rolling terrain that extends to the rugged Catskill Escarpment, visible in the background at left. The sun has just sunk below the mountain ridge and illuminates the sky and clouds in hues of gold, orange, pink, and red. The sky itself is a gradient from deep blue-green to bright pink-red.
