- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a loosely rendered view of brightly colored clouds at sunset, likely in the Hudson River Valley. The foreground is an indistinct expanse of green, presumably a sloping, grassy hill that leads down to a river (possibly the Hudson)--a dark purple/brown band that snakes horiztonally across the composition in the middle distance. Rolling terrain appears to extend into the background, where layered bands of vividly-illuminated pink clouds hang over the landscape. At center, a particular bright cloud is rendered in thick impasto. Patches of the deep blue-green sky are visible through the cloud banks.
