- Description
- The main street of Suraga-Cho, which is the old name of the province where Mount Fuji is located, appears to lead right up to the base of the mountain. The traditional Japanese cloud divides the print into thirds. The lower half of the print shows buildings of the predecessor to the Mitsukoshi chain of department stores. This textile retail business was the first to sell goods at fixed prices. Among the street are customers and merchants busily going about their day.
