- Description
- Surgical saw with a steel blade, ebony handle, and "TIEMANN / N. YORK" inscription. This form was often termed a “Satterlee Saw” or “Satterlee’s Saw”. The name may refer to Richard Satterlee (1798-1880), a surgeon who commanded the Union Army Medical Purveyor’s Office in New York City during the Civil War.
