Support Bracket, Missile, LTV-N2, Loon
Object Details
- Summary
- Shown here is what appears to be a component of the support cradle for the 33,000-pound thrust booster assembly used on the Navy's JB-2 Loon submarine launched guided missile. The booster burned for half a second during launch, then fell into the water. The Navy conducted tests of the unit on the JB-2 off the California Coast during 1947-1948. The Loon program ended in 1950 in favor of the Regulus 1, the Navy's first operational, submarine launched guided missile.
