Collation of each volume: v. 1. vi, 58 p., plates numbered 1-36 and [4] unnumbered plates; v. 2. [2], 59-124, 8, 7*-8*, 7**-8**, 9-24, [2] p., plates numbered 37-51 and [10] unnumbered plates, plus 6 numbered plates and two unnumbered plates on double leaves in the appendix; v. 3. unnumbered text pages and [27] unnumbered plates.

The plates were worked on by numerous artists and illustrators. Some of the illustrators included Ferd. Bauer, G.D. Ehret, J.T. Hart, J. Lycett, and Sowerby; some of the engravers included Barlow, Mackenzie, Queiroz, Warner, and E. Weddell. G. Scharf was the lithographer for the plates in the appendix, which were printed by C. Hullmandel.
