- Mother Monument is an artist book designed by watercolor painter Holly Trostle Brigham with the help of book artist MaryAnn Miller and eight women poets, conceived in obelisk form, dedicated to women artists. The obelisk is accompanied by a hand constructed foam board box (covered with printed Iris book cloth with black and white illustrations, lined with hand-printed paper), miniature butterfly artifacts, and a accordion folded book containing 8 poems and color portraits of the artists. Four flaps fold down at the base of the obelisk monument box and include four of the eight sonnets written by four of the women poets, while the other four poems appear on the top portion of the obelisk monument. The poems are printed on Rives BFK paper. As the viewer looks down on the top of the book, the flaps appear as flower petals. The butterfly relics are hand printed in red ink and strung together with red thread and may be hung draped on the monument or inside the box. The box that contains all of the components is covered in black and white marbleized paper and constructed of foam board.
