- Apparently, catalog number 73337 was originally assigned to only one shield. The ledger book says it is 22 inches in diameter, which is the size of the other shield, E73337-0 (the one with quill decoration). So this one (E73337-1 larger, without the quills) was added later, possibly by mistake (in other words, perhaps it was originally cataloged with a different number, since lost). It is marked with newer ink as "73337A"
- It is possible this is the shield originally numbered E73338, which has not been located.
