Santa Claus Christmas Ornament
Object Details
- Description
- Molded glass holiday or Christmas ornament in the shape of Santa Claus, holding an undecorated Christmas tree in his hands, resting on his left sholder. He wears a yellow-gold jacket and pants (legs cut off, bottom of ornament rounded) and yellow-gold cap, jacket and cap are both trimmed in matte white. Iridescent white face and molded long full beard, red mouth, green eyes. Metal cap attached at top of cap, with thin bent metal loop, green and white strings attached for hanging. No mark. Molds such as this were very popular, and this was a standard "Santa Claus" form. Such molds were used prior to 1940, but then reused after 1940, making it difficult to date exactly.
