Summary

This is a flying model rocket of the Soviet Union's Vostok launch vehicle, made by Model Products in the 1960s. The model is made of cardboard, plastic, and steel and has a nylon parachute in the nose. A solid propellant rocket motor propels the model, and then at the end of the vertical flight it forces the release of the parachute. The model is then retrieved and can be used again. The model was first flown in 1970. G. Harry Stine, an American pioneer in the field of flying model rockets, donated it to the museum, in 1973.
