- Description
- Hugh McKee Bell (1902-1967) was born in Pennsylvania and obtained his M.A. from Stanford University in 1928. He spent his career at California State University at Chico, as professor of psychology and later dean. In 1934, Bell published the first version of a test of student adjustment known as the Adjustment Inventory (later the Bell Adjustment Inventory). It included a series of questions designed to measure home adjustment, health adjustment, social adjustment, and emotional adjustment. This is the adult form of the test, published in 1938.
