- Description (Brief)
- Pierre the Rat is one of Jim Henson’s oldest creations. Henson first designed the character in a comic strip for his high school in 1954, and he created this hand puppet with a plastic wood head later that year for The Junior Morning Show, a local Washington, D.C., children’s television show. Pierre the Rat was later used on Sam and Friends, which was a five-minute show that aired on the local NBC affiliate station in Washington, D.C., WRC-TV. It featured a cast of hand puppets created by Jim Henson and his eventual wife Jane Nebel that often lip-synched to popular songs or comedy records. It aired from 1955 to 1961.
