National Museum of American History

Object Details

Wheeler, Albert Harry
Description
This group of sheets includes drawings for patterns of geometric models made under the direction of A. Harry Wheeler as well as pattern pieces, some made of celluloid. Thus one has:
1.a sheet with four faded drawings with three pattern pieces - unmarked.
2. three sheets and two pattern pieces. One sheet has a drawing of roughly an ellips and is unmarked. A second sheet has two drawings and is marked: No. 2 Cube with Four Removable (/) Regular Octahedra. It also is marked: March 16 1939 (/) Pyralin Model (/) made March18, 1939. A third sheet has two drawings and is marked :Octahedron Dissected into (/) a Cubocatahedron. It also is marked: Feb 21-1939 (/) Pyralin Model (/) made Feb 22-1939.
3. a sheet with drawings for a geometric model. A mark reads: Rhombic Dodecahedron with a (/) Rhombic Trapezoidal Dodecahedron. It also is marked: March 28, 1930. It also is marked: Pyralin Model (/) made March 28 1939.
4. a sheet with a drawing for a geometic model. A mark reads: Dissected Cube. Another mark reads: Feb 21.1939 (/) Pyralin Model (/) made Feb 21, 1939.
5, a sheet with a drawing for a geometric model. A mark reads: Dissected Tetrahedron. Another mark reads: Feb 21-1939 (/) Pyralin Model (/) made Feb 21-1939. In addition, clipped to the sheet are five calling cards marked: A. Harry Wheeler. Four of them have drawings of tangrams on the back.
6. Sheet with two drawings relating to a geometric model. A mark reads: Tetrahedron with (/) Regular Octahedron (/) Onnia [?]. Another mark reads: Feb 22-1939 (/) Pyrlin Model (/) made Feb 22-1939.
7. unmarked sheet with two drawings on it relating to geometric models.
8. two sheets of drawing for geometric models. The first is marked: Cube Separable into (/) Two Tetrakaidekahedra (/) New Standard Size. Another mark on this sheet reads: March 1-1930.
9. sheet with four drawings for a geometric model, connected by pencil lines. A mark reads Cube - Two Rhombic Dodecahedra Second Species (/) - Two Rhombic Dodecahdra First Species(/) - Two Cubes. Another mark reads; March 1, 1939. Another mark reads: Model 24.
10. sheet with two drawings for a geometric model. A mark reads: Pentagonal Dodecahedra (/) I II III IV Species (/) White Pyralin Models (/) made (/) June 5-7. Another mark reads: June 7, 1939.
11. Sheet with drawing for an irregular tetrahedron. A mark reads: Eulerian Tetrahedron (/) (Not Rational) (/) Model Made (/) Oct 12-1926.
12, Three sheets clipped together . A mark on the ritst reads: RATIONAL TETRAHEDRON (/) (?). It also reads: Sept. 1926. A second folded sheet has three drawings, including a three-pointed star with holes. The third sheet has a drawing and is labeled: ORTHOCENTRIC TETRAHEDRON. This sheet also is labeled: Sept. 1926
13. sheet with a drawing for a geometric model (probably the framework of a surface). A mark reads: Irregular tetrahedron." Another mark reads: For Hyperbolic Paraboloid (/) Wellesley students prefer Red Tape (/) because the model is stiffer.
14. sheet with drawing for a geometric model. A mark reads: Rationaal Tetrahdron Oct-17-1926 (/) with Minimum Edge-Sum.
15. sheet with drawing for a geometric model. A mark reads: Equifacial Tetrahedron. Another mark reads: O.K. (/) Oct-12-1926.
16. two sheets with drawings for models. One is labeled: Rational Tetrahedron (/) with sphere Tangent to (/) the Six Edges." Another mark reads: Model o.K. (/) Oct 12-1926. Second sheet has a mark that reads: Tetrahedron Having a Sphere (/) Tangent to all of the Six Edges." Another mrk reads: Model O.K. (/) Sept-15-1926.
