- This parachute harness was worn by astronaut James McDivitt, Command Pilot of the Gemini IV mission that occured in June 1965.
- During ascent and entry, each crewmember wore special equipment consisting of a partial pressure suit, a parachute harness assembly, and a parachute pack. The harness provided a lightweight, strong, and comfortable means of attaching the personal parachute to the astronaut, which were only used during the Gemini program. Northrop Ventura made the harness and parachute.
- NASA transferred this object to the museum at the end of Project Gemini.
