U.S. TRADE MARK PATENT OFF.” and “MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “PURE AS THE PINES” and “SHAMPOOING / BATH / TOILET / NURSERY” and “BOOKLET WITH INSTRUCTIONS ENCLOSED.”
- Daniel F. Packer (1825-1904) was born in Mystic, Ct., followed the gold rush to California, and introduced his pine tar soap to market in 1869. That firm is still in business, trading as Packer’s Pine.
