- Description
- Cover to St. Helena on USA 2-cent postal envelope (Scott design type number U72) with additional postage of five 2-cent stamps (USA Scott 213) and three 1-cent stamps (USA Scott 212) for total of 15 cents. Addressed to Capt. P.B. Handy, Bark Falcon, St. Helena.
- Postmarks: Westport, Mass, Feb 23, 1889 and St Helena, Mar 22 89
- Receiving marks: Duplex New York, Feb 23, 11pm/oval with horizontal lines and number 46; London Mar 8 89
- Other marks: box with printed message in French and English "Returned to England without a reason for non-delivery. handwritten in red ink across the 6 2-cent stamps "ship sailed from St. Helena." (probably referring to Capt. Handy's ship)
- Cancellation: four wedges forming a circle on each stamp.
