Headdress Of A Spinous Fish Skin, Helmet
Object Details
- Donor Name
- Us Consul Isaac M. Brower
- Per Dr. Stephanie Leclerc-Caffarel, there were two Kiribati porcupine fish skin helmets numbered E102250, when there was only supposed to be one with that number. She identified one of these helmets (which has the word "Fjii" written inside it) as # E23956. She also noted that the Fiji attribution for 23956 was incorrect, and so the cultural identification has been changed to Kiribati.
- Helmet, te barantauti, made of skin of the porcupine fish. Worn by warriors of the Kiribati in Micronesia.
