- Melanie Hahnemann (1800-1878), nee Mélanie d'Hervilly Gohier, was a French aristocrat who was treated by, and then married, Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy. After the two returned to Paris in 1835, Melanie became an accomplished homeopath. The “A Magdebourg chez Mazzucchi” inscription at the bottom of this portrait print refers to the printer, Caesar Mazzucchi in Magdeburg.
