- Description
- This tin glazed drug jar has a straight neck, flared foot, and a metal lid. The white background is decorated with a cobalt blue decoration of a basket of flowers flanked by two peacocks, swags of flowers, and an angel with a pendant cross.
- The center of the cartouche is marked “P LAUDANOP.” Administering laudanum—an opium solution—for pain relief has been practiced for centuries. Differing recipes call for varying amounts of opium.
