- From NMNH Exhibit Hall "Eternal Life in Ancient Egypt" label for this artifact, 2011: Winged heart scarab amulet 664-332 BC (probable). Notice the tiny holes in the amulet where it was once sewn to mummy wrappings or a shroud. Heart scarabs often included a Book of the Dead spell to prevent the heart from testifying against its owner at judgment.
