Marker, Sea Dye, Apollo
Object Details
- Manufacturer
- Presto Dyechem Co.
- Summary
- In anticipation of a possible emergency landing or mission abort, each spacecraft was equipped with a series of emergency/survival rucksacks. Each rucksack contained equipment to protect the astronauts and assist the search and rescue teams in locating their position. This package of sea-dye marker is one such aid to location packed in Survival Rucksack #2. Upon opening and shaking the powder into the sea, it forms an orange trail on the ocean surface, making it easier to spot the astronauts' raft.
