- Landscape study of view of Mt. Desert Island from nearby Sutton Island looking northeast. Atmosphere and land are suffused with warm, rosy light from rising or setting sun. Hills of Mt. Desert visible at left with a rocky shoreline in the foreground. Light, scattered clouds throughout top portion. Three boats with white sails glide upon the water at a distance.
