- Summary
- This is a model of unknown scale of the Bomarc, a ground-launched anti-aircraft missile deployed at U.S. Air Force bases in the United States from 1957-1972. Developed by Boeing, the missile had a range of up to 440 miles, a maximum speed approaching Mach 4, a cruising altitude of 65,000 feet, and either a conventional or nuclear warhead. Targets were initially acquired by the ground-based SAGE air-defense radar system and the Bomarc was then launched. Within about 10 miles of the target, the missile's on-board radar locked onto it to achieve an intercept. John and Cynthia Heyde donated this model to NASM on an unknown date.
