- Description
- Compound monocular with push-tube focus, hinged joint, square stage, sub-stage mirror, and square base, as well as slides and apparatus for simple chemical experiments. The inscription on the box reads “GILBERT MICROSCOPE AND LAB SET.”
- This item was made and marketed by A.C. Gilbert, a toy company that was established in Westville, Ct., in 1909, and that introduced the Erector Set a few years later. Gilbert began making microscopes for children in 1932. This example, number 13031, is dated 1957.
