Microcomputer, IBM ThinkPad 730T
Object Details
- IBM
- Description
- GO Corporation was founded in Silicon Valley in 1987 to produce a "PenPoint" operating system that used a pen-based interface (rather than a keyboard or facsimilie thereof). Several products resulted, including this IBM ThinkPad. The pieces of the ThinkPad fit in a hefty black suitcase lined with foam. They include:
- 1. The ThinkPad itself - a screen with a black case that fits into a connection near the bottom of the suitcase.
- 2. a stylus
- 3. two battery packs that fit below the ThinkPad
- 4. a power cord to the left of the ThinkPad.
- 5. a Kodak DICONIX 180si printer, that fits sideways next to the ThinkPad.
- 6. an attachment for a Phone and a Line, inside the lid of the suitcase at the far right.
- This is a relatively early version of an IBM product developed in close collaboration with Japanese staff. It is a tablet not a laptop - there is no keyboard for data entry.
- According to the donor, State Farm Insurance Comapny purchased this kind of device from IBM for its field adjusters.
