- This man's cravat (rabat) was made in the point plat de Venise needle lace technique in the 17th century. The fine hexagonal needle made mesh connecting the motifs of swirls of narrow leafy veins has tightly buttonhole stitched bars with 3 picots on each bar. It is bordered on three sides with a ¼” wide edging of buttonhole stitched and picoted scallops.
