- Typewritten letter from Beth Slingerland to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Haskell, written on December 7, 1941, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mrs. Slingerland's husband, John, was a crane operator at Pearl Harbor and he was at work on the day that Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. Mrs. Slingerland's letter to her parents describes the scene she is witnessing from her home in the hills above Pearl Harbor. She updates the letter throughout the day and includes hand-written notes throughout. The letter is three pages, typed, on onion skin paper and includes the original envelope.
