- Summary
- Two-tiered fountain at the center of shallow octagonal pool. Fountain consists of two circular basins decorated with acanthus leaves. Smaller (upper) basin supported by three pelicans or herons, wings outspread and facing outwards. Larger (lower) basin rests on column decorated with water lilies and cattails. Fountain surmounted by statue of Leda, semi-nude and standing in contrapposto. Her weight-bearing leg is proper right. Against the relaxed leg, proper left, leans Zeus in form of a swan, wings outspread and neck, head, and bill extended upwards. Leda's proper right hand rests on swan's neck; proper left arm, raised and bent, cradles a pipe with fountainhead which directs water. She gazes at her raised left hand. Drapery covers her at hips.
