- Description
- Landscape study showing a view from an elevated perspective of the Königssee in Bavaria, in present day Germany. In the immediate foreground, the top of a conifer tree is visible at left. Below, the emerald-blue waters of the lake extend into the middle distance and curve around a sheer mountainside at right that meets the water at a nearly perpendicular angle. Its wooded slopes ascend out of the frame at upper right. At left, a steep wooded mountain ridge forms the lake's opposite shoreline, creating a narrow channel at center. Two relatively miniscule row boats are visible on the water's surface at center and lower right. In the background, a rocky, snowy alpine massif backdrops the scene. Above, puffy clouds hang in an otherwise blue sky.
