- A poster commemorating the centennial of the Statue of Liberty. The statue, designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi was dedicated on the 28th of October 1886 by President Grover Cleveland. The Statue of Libery was a symbol of freedom in the United States and a welcome to immigrants. In 1982 the Centennial Commission was formed to preform restoration work as well as renovations and repairs. July 3-6, 1986 was declared "Liberty Weekend" President Roanld Reagan presided over the rededication. French president Francois Mitterrand was in attendance.
