Exhibition Label: Born Plains, Georgia; Jimmy Carter sat for his official White House portrait in Plains, Georgia, soon after leaving office. This is the life study that Herbert Abrams made in preparation for that work. Both Carter and Abrams found the painting to be very successful. The artist reportedly said that the White House portrait “fell off the brush. It just flowed—I knew from the beginning it was going to be one of my best.”; Nacido en Plains, Georgia; Jimmy Carter posó para su retrato oficial de la Casa Blanca en Plains, Georgia, poco después de dejar la presidencia.
