Object Details
- Description
- Jar, broad ovoidal form; depressed base. Lacquer cover, Japanese, provided for purpose of using piece as tea-ceremony water jar (mizusashi)
- Clay: hard, gray; stoneware.
- Glaze: body glaze, rich peacock-green, crackled; decorations glazed in aubergine, brownish-yellow and white, now discolored. Crackled and stained. Interior turquoise. Iron wash on foot.
- Decoration: floral peony design outlined in relief, filled with colored glazes (as above).
