Dark blue flying coat; white rank insignia on sleeves; dark brown shearling lining; zipper down front; zipper cuffs; 2 lower slash pockets with snap closures; three white embroidered on black felt Feldwebel (sergeant) rank insignia sewn on both arms.
Summary
This is an example of the flying jacket from the Luftwaffe two piece electrically heated "Kanal" suit. They became standard issue for pilots and aircrews sometime in 1943.
