- Albert Naquin, Traditional Chief; Boyo Billiot, Deputy Chief; Chantel Comardelle, Tribal Secretary; and Heather Stone, collaborator; made the following comments during the Isle de Jean Charles Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw Recovering Voices Community Research Visit, October 23-27, 2017. The group does not believe this was a shirt used for actual hunting. It is too brightly colored and intricate and the animals would see you. The group notes that they use a similar design for their ribbon shirts, especially ones worn to powwow. After discussion, Chantel suggested that maybe this shirt was made for Father Rouquette to wear on the hunt so they knew not to shoot him.
