- Summary
- Joseph Henry statue at the entrance of the Smithsonian Institution Building, or "Castle." Henry was the first Secretary of the Smithsonian Insitution from 1846-1878. The bronze statue was commissioned in 1880 and installed in 1883, at which time it faced the Smithsonian Building. It was turned to face the National Mall in 1965.
