- "b. Paris. Pupil of G. Boulanger, J. Lefebvre, and Carolus Duran. " An old fisherman has taken his little granddaughter out in his boat with him on the morning of a pleasant day. The little one wishes to help row the boat, and with her hands on the oar is pulling with all her might. there is a humorous but very tender look in the old man's face, while the child's sober expression shows that she is very much in earnest. - a picture vigorous in its realism, artistic in its composition, harmonious in its color, and charming in its sentiment."
