Description
This fedora-style hat was worn by Harrison Ford as the title character in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The hat was designed by Anthony Powell and Joanna Johnston, the film's costume designers, based on Deborah Nadoolman Landis' original hat design for Raiders of the Lost Ark, and made by Herbert Johnson Hatters in London. The felt hat has a silk grosgrain band and a leather sweatband with the initials IJ printed on it in gold lettering.
Filmmaker George Lucas conceived of Indiana Jones as a globe-trekking archeologist to pay homage to classic Hollywood adventure films. Jones is a reluctant hero who finds himself fighting evil-doers while seeking to preserve cultural heritage. The Indiana Jones series, directed by Steven Spielberg, is among the most successful movie franchises in American history.
