- Description
- Seascape and landscape sketch showing a close view of an immense, gray iceberg in the waters off of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Dominating the composition at center, the berg seems at once cubic and pyramidal in shape, having two almost flat, cliff-like sides that meet at a nearly ninety degree angle, as well as a sharp, pointed peak. Likely colored grey because it is in shadow, the iceberg also has patches of luminous blue-green ice. In the background, a mountainous coastline forms a rolling horizon beneath an overcast sky, which the sun attempts to penetrate at upper center. The warm gray tones of the sky are reflected in the rippling water below.
