From the hitherto unpublished original ms. preserved in the library of Göttingen University. The ms. has title: "Segunda parte de la Historia general llamada índica, la cual por mandado del excelentísmo señor don Francisco de Toledo, virrey ... de los reinos del Pirú ... compuso el capitán Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa". This part deals with the history of Peru to the end of the native rule; two other parts were projected, but apparently never written.
