- Description
- Oval-shaped football helmet with earflaps, a forehead guard, interior cotton padding, and side reinforcement section crossing at the top. This helmet was worn by the donor, Earl Sheeley while a member of the U.S. Army during service on the Mexican border in 1916. According to the donor the helmet was issued to the regiment teams whether from a social fund or the Quartermaster Corps. Each company was equipped to play and each had a team in competition. The donor's 16th regiment became the 112th in the 28th division later on.
