- Summary
- This sculpture is part of a six-piece group (two bronze monuments and four stone figures installed on the Central Terrace) that depicts the themes of westward expansion and America welcoming immigrants. The Immigrant is a bare-chested male figure kneeling on his proper left knee. Under his proper left arm he holds a rolled up blanket. With his proper right arm he clutches a pole and uses it to support himself. He rests his head against the stick and looks down at the ground.
