- This Earl Monroe basketball card is number 73 in a series of 264 that was manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1972-1973 National Basketball Association (NBA) season. The front of the card features a posed picture of the New York Knicks guard on a yellow background. The card’s reverse features a small cartoon image illustrating the factoid that “They call him Earl the Pearl,” as well as a short biography and career statistics.
- Earl Monroe was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets in 1967, winning the NBA Rookie of the Year award. Traded to the Knicks in 1971, he won an NBA Championship with the Knicks in 1973. Monroe was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990, and named one of the 50 greatest NBA players in 1996.
