Duncan Expert Award Butterfly Yo-Yo
Object Details
- Rule, Robert M.
- Duncan
- Description (Brief)
- This wooden butterfly yo-yo was made by the Duncan Toys Company in the 1960s. It is teal and has a stamped silver leaf reading "Expert Award/ Duncan Yo-Yo/ Return Top." The seal features an image of an eagle with a star between its wings. The reverse side features an inscription carved into the back reading "Mr. Yo-Yo/ Bob." The inscription refers to the toy's user Bob Rule, who worked for Duncan during the 1950s and 1960s. Rule gave himself the nickname “Mr. Yo-Yo” in 1960. He wanted to avoid calling himself a “World Champion,” a disingenuous title used by many yo-yo performers.
