- Scientists at the University of Michigan used this Collins drill trephine (aka bone drill) for inoculating rabbits with rabies while conducting research on rabies vaccine. The “COLLIN” inscription is probably that of Anatole Collin (1831-1923), a surgical instrument maker in Paris.
