- Woven cotton band tapering into 2 tassels at each end. Tassels consist of long strands, each strand ending with about 5 beads and a seed. An anchor cord is strung through narrow portion of band, either side ending with beads, a seed and a red feather. Inserted throughout woven band are 20 strands of beads, seed and parrot (?) feathers. Dr. Newton says this was collected in the Apinaye village of Mariazinha. It was obtained from and made by Kokoi, a 75+ y/o female. Used. Looks to be earlier featherwork, not altered. It was made for "Neto(wain meti)" probably grandson of Nindo Joaquim, a 40 y/o male. It was made when they lived in the village of Botica. The maker says it can be used for any ceremony. Topklut offers the information that it was over 10 years ago that they last lived in Botica. This is called meo?prepre. Cordage: band is 2z cotton. Tassel fringe is 2z, 2s cotton. Bead cord and ties are 2z tucum. Technique: interlaced band is formed into 8 strand square braid at each end. Then changing to 2 four strand square braids; tassel/fringe end strands are attached to each of 4 ends. Seed beads are scleria.aku, and a medium tan, smooth, seed. Antique glass and glass/plastic beads. Price paid: 5 crn. Associated specimens: 1968-106 and 103 are related type and provenience.
