The Descent of the Air Balloon
Object Details
- Physical Description
- Uncolored etching of the landing of the balloon shown in in A20140401000. The balloon came down in another town 45 leagues away. The people of the town are screaming in fear of the sight of the balloon and the animals that came out of the basket. As noted, the Montfgolfier hot air balloon is shown as a sealed gas balloon, an indication that the engraver had never seen a balloon and was unfamiliar with the two types.
